In Time:
Animals accepted Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Please see animal ingress maps on Fair website for directions on how to bring your animal to the Fair.
Release Time:
Exhibitors will be released from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm, noon, Sunday, July 28.
Specific Rules:
1. Exhibitors should read General Rules and Regulations and Livestock Department Rules found in the 2024 Exhibitor Handbook.
2. All birds must be clean and healthy from any disease or parasites or they will be refused entry by Superintendent or any assigned Judge. The Superintendent reserves full authority to bar from competition any entry which is too mature/immature, diseased or otherwise unworthy of the breed it represents.
3. All birds will be leg banded for the purpose of owner identification and judging. The leg band number should be provided at time of registration.
4. The latest editions of the “Standard of Perfection” will be the guide for the Judges in awarding prizes for poultry and waterfowl.
5. Do not enter birds that have been vaccinated for contagious diseases within 30 days of the show.
6. No “FOR SALE” signs will be allowed on exhibits or in the building.
7. Only barn management, judges and owners will be allowed to handle birds.
- Feed will be supplied thanks to a generous donation from Tractor Supply and birds will be fed and watered by show management.
9. The Fair will use every precaution in its power to protect the exhibits, but it will not be responsible for injury, loss or damage by theft, fire or otherwise.
10. The term “Poultry” shall include ducks, geese, guineas, chickens, turkeys, pea fowl, and quail.
11. Hen, cock or old means one year or older. Pullet, cockerel, or young means less than one year, but at least sixteen (16) weeks old.
12. All birds must be at least sixteen (16) weeks old.
13. Animal must be in possession and care of owner at least one (1) month prior to Fair opening day.
14. This is an APA sanctioned show.
15. Entries will be judged according to the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection.
16. The decisions of the Judges are final.
17. The same bird may not be shown in the Open Class and 4-H competition.
18. Open classes will be permitted three entries in each lot within each breed, or at the discretion of the Superintendent.
19. Champion Rosette will be awarded at the discretion of the Judge.
20. Larger cages are available upon request, ie. Double coop, tall/long coop for bantams with long tails.
21. Limited space available on a first come first served basis.

Division J: 1st = 100 points 2nd = 75 points 3rd = 50 points 4th = 25 points
Prize awards shall be paid by check, or in cash if under $10 total, issued by the Cowlitz County Fair office as soon as all entry records are received and processed, and payment can be reasonably made. All points are worth 15 cents each, unless stated otherwise. Checks must be cashed within 60 days of the date of issue; otherwise, funds will be forfeited back to the Fair. The Fair Office must be notified of any errors on the check within 60 days of issue.

Membership Information:
The American Poultry Association invites you to become a member. Adult members receive the yearbook and are eligible to earn Master Exhibitor points at sanctioned shows. All members receive the quarterly and are eligible for the awards at this show. The minimum number of Master Exhibitor points for a qualified win at this show is five (5).
Adult Dues: $25.00 for one (1) year or $65.00 for three (3) years
Junior Dues (Must be 18 and under): $20.00 for one (1) year or $50.00 for three (3) years
